Uncontaminated is a VR art gallery by for the Uncontaminated Art Festival in Oslo. A collection of 6 emerging international photographers were collected in a series of digital gallery spaces, each space fine-tuned to the spatial desires of each artist - from tight & compact to elongated, cantilevering, cavelike. In this sense the exhibition functions as an alternative spatial display of the works. Users circulate through the gallery by standing on a circular platform which stands still as the building slides vertically through each space, culminating with a rooftop. With Ooni and Planeta.

Deadhouse is an architectural ruin recorded in 2016. It has since collapsed. Upon recording it was towards the end of its life - having existed as a lone island for 40 years. Having previously being owned by a widow, and inherited by her nephew, the property on which the house stood was rented out as farmland to a local farmer who left the house untouched. The house therefore became a strange amalgamation of materials, space, plant matter and geometry. Deadhouse tells the story of both the authorship of mother nature over architecture, and the depletion of the Norwegian cultural landscape. The 1:1 3d scan model is currently being ported into a VR room-scale model for exhibition Fall 2017. In this manner, Deadhouse will be preserved as a ubiquitous spatial experience completely detached from its original conception. With Kim Larsen.

name: Bangkok Stack

event: guest professorship

type: architectural research

year: 2017

question: how to backup architecture?

format: site survey and scan / physical exhibition (bangkok and new york)

location: bangkok, thailand

medium: 1024 HMD virtual reality headset

materials: smartphones, htc vive, pc computer

programs: rhino, unity, photoshop, autodesk remake

partners: inda chulalongkorn

The Bangkok Stack focused on "closing the gap" between physical and digital space. Each of the 13 students chose an existing public space in Bangkok as a case study. Utilizing 3d-scanning, photography, and traditional site surveying, the students documented and recreated 3d copies of their spaces from throughout Bangkok.

Following this exercise, the students brought their spaces into VR through Rhino 3d and began manipulating their case studies using VR as both an analytical and generative tool. Focusing on spatial compression, story building and memelike effects, each student designed a space based on a theme central to their personal experiences of Bangkok.

Living Museum is the 2nd place competition entry for the In Residency Program of the Oslo Architecture Biennale of 2016. The competition asked for site specific inventions, with our site being AirBnB in Copenhagen, Denmark. The project proposes to invert the platform logic of AirBnB to create an open-source architecture museum. Through our research we identified 12 initial sites for the prototype. Available for booking directly through AirBnB. amd showcasing the residential canon of Copenhagen, from the warehouses of the early 1600s, to the courtyards of Kay Fisker, to the BIG Mountain, AirBnB created for us a "historic section" of previously private living spaces, and more importantly, a novel opportunity for public intervention and discovery. Following site identification, we proposed 3d-scanning the interiors of each site with photogrammetry in line with AirBnB's image policy, and publishing the results through an AR open-source augmented reality interface, creating the initial steps for an online, 1:1 scale archive of, for, and through architecture. With Julie Aars.
